The Creator of All You Can See or Imagine
Who Has scooped up the ocean in His two hands,
or measured the sky between His thumb and little finger,
Who has put all the earth’s dirt in one of His baskets,
weighed each mountain and hill?
Who could ever have told God what to do
or taught Him His business?
What expert would He have gone to for advice,
what school would He attend to learn justice?
What god do you suppose might have taught Him what He knows,
showed Him how things work?
Why, the nations are but a drop in a bucket,
a mere smudge on a window.
Watch Him sweep up the islands
like so much dust off the floor!
There aren’t enough trees in Lebanon
nor enough animals in those vast forests
to furnish adequate fuel and offerings for His worship.
All the nations add up to simply nothing before Him—
less than nothing is more like it. A minus.
As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval. They will be satisfied.
(Proverbs 21:21; Matthew 10:7; Matthew 5:6)
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
Who is this coming up from the wilderness LEANING on her beloved?
Beneath the apple tree I AWAKENED you; There your mother was in LABOR with you, There she was in LABOR and gave you birth.
Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, The very flame of the LORD.
For seven days present food offerings to the LORD, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the LORD. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work.
‘On the eighth day hold a closing special assembly and do no regular work.
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.
(Isaiah 66:8b, 7)
A Pilgrim Song
If God doesn’t build the HOUSE,
the builders only build SHACKS.
If God doesn’t guard the city,
the night watchman might as well nap.
It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late,
and work your worried fingers to the bone.
Don’t you know He enjoys
giving rest to those He loves?
Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?
the fruit of the womb His generous legacy?
Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you;
you’ll sweep them right off your DOORSTEP.
To Love, to Be Loved
God is love. When we take up PERMANENT RESIDENCE in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us.
This way, love has the RUN OF THE HOUSE, becomes AT HOME and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is NO ROOM in love for fear.
Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love. (1 John 4:17-18)
You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, You’re my refuge. I trust in You and I’m safe!”
That’s right—He rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—under them you’re perfectly safe;
His arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left,no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door.
He ordered His angelsto guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they’ll catch you;their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
“If you’ll hold on to Me for dear life,” says God,“I’ll get you out of any trouble. i’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust Me.
Call Me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”
What can I give back to God for the blessings He’s poured out on me?
I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to God!
I’ll pray in the name of God;
I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do, and I’ll do it together with His people.
When they arrive at the gates of death, God welcomes those who love Him.
Oh, God, here I am, Your servant,
Your faithful servant: set me free for Your service!
I’m ready to offer the thanksgiving sacrifice and pray in the name of God.
I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do, and I’ll do it in company with His people,
In the place of worship, in God’s house, in Jerusalem, God’s city.
DO YOU TAKE THIS MAN TO BE YOUR LAWFULLY WEDDED HUSBAND?
FOR WHAT GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER LET NO MAN TEAR ASUNDER
FOR THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD
WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS!
Israel’s Only Savior
But now, this is what the Lord says—
He who created you, Jacob,
He who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
Since you are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.
I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’
Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth—
everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, whom I formed and made.”
Lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf.
All the nations gather togetherand the peoples assemble.
Which of their gods foretold this and proclaimed to us the former things?
Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right,so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
“You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He.
Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.
I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from Me there is no savior.
I have revealed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am He.
No one can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
Who is it He is trying to teach? To whom is He explaining His message? To children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast? (Isaiah 28:9)
Those who are wayward in spirit will gain understanding; those who complain will accept instruction. (Isaiah 29:24)
You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you to go and bear fruit–
Fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) All your children will be taught by the LORD, and your children will have unlimited peace. (Isaiah 54:13)
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. (Hebrews 8:11)
INVITATION TO THE NEEDY
Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost.
“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.
Cure the sick, bring the dead back to life, cleanse those with skin diseases, and force demons out of people. Give these things without charging, since you received them without paying.
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 4:17)
—but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (John 4:14)
He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me– God sends forth His love and His faithfulness. (Psalm 57:3)
MY HEART WILL FOLLOW AFTER YOU
Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (Matthew 4:19)
Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.
Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds–like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.
“Gather to Me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
(Ezekiel 47:9-10; Psalm 50:5)
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending“, saith the Lord, “which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to Me.” (John 6:45)
His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me. (SoS 8:3) Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed! (Psalm 85:10)
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. (Revelation 1:8; 2 Peter 1:16-21)
Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.
Do not withhold Your mercy from me, LORD; may Your love and faithfulness always protect me. (Psalm 25:5; Psalm 40:11)
He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. (Psalm 25:9-10)
YOU SHOWED FAVOR TO THE LAND
Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Lovingkindness and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth springs from the earth, And righteousness looks down from heaven.
Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
(Psalm 23:6; Psalm 85:9-11)
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides for ever.
(1 Peter 1:23) Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.(Acts 2:39) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8) It is the Spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63)
O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink.
Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:37-38)
We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.
The People Are to Turn from Their Sin
Come, let us return to the Lord. He has hurt us but He will heal us. He has cut us but He will cover the sore.
After two days He will give us new life.
He will raise us up on the third day, that we may live before Him.
So keep on trying to know the Lord.
His coming to us is as sure as the rising of the sun.
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain giving water to the earth.
