My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”
“You parents–if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?”–Jesus
Learn to walk as Jesus who only did what the Father showed him. His life was forever in the Father’s hands.
Even when Jesus was Handed Over to Pontius Pilate,
Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
The King on a Cross
His Kingdom is not of this world. Jesus knew where he belonged. He knew whence He came and where he was going. He walked in perfect agreement with the will of the Father who sent Him to finish the work of His hands.
If we walk in the light AS He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We are freed to walk uprightly with the Lord blameless and pure as His beloved children.
BROTHER STANDS WITH BROTHER. JESUS IS THE FIRSTBORN OF MANY BRETHREN.
WE MUST BE ABOUT OUR FATHER’S BUSINESS. Love One Another
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
FATHER, NOT MY WILL BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. AMEN.
Don’t run from tests and hardships, brothers and sisters. As difficult as they are, you will ultimately find joy in them; if you embrace them, your faith will blossom under pressure and teach you true patience as you endure. And true patience brought on by endurance will equip you to complete the long journey and cross the finish line—mature, complete, and wanting nothing. If you don’t have all the wisdom needed for this journey, then all you have to do is ask God for it; and God will grant all that you need. He gives lavishly and never scolds you for asking.
Wisdom, as James understands it, is the ability to live life well and make good decisions. Wisdom doesn’t come from old age or hard knocks. Wisdom begins with knowing and depending absolutely on God, who is never stingy when it comes to wisdom for those who seek it. He supplies all the wisdom we need when we ask. But when we try to go it alone—without God—trouble is around the corner.
The key is that your request be anchored by your single-minded commitment to God. Those who depend only on their own judgment are like those lost on the seas, carried away by any wave or picked up by any wind. Those adrift on their own wisdom shouldn’t assume the Lord will rescue them or bring them anything. The splinter of divided loyalty shatters your compass and leaves you dizzy and confused. James 1:2-8
Although Jesus was the Son of God, he learned to be obedient through his sufferings.
It was now about the sixth hour (midday), and darkness enveloped the whole land and earth until the ninth hour (about three o’clock in the afternoon),
While the sun’s light faded or [a]was darkened; and the curtain [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two.
And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit! And with these words, He expired.
Now the centurion, having seen what had taken place, recognized God and thanked and praised Him, and said, Indeed, without question, this Man was upright (just and innocent)!
It’s all about what we honor. A son honors his father.
What is first place in your heart?
Is God’s Word preeminent?
Do you see yourself aligned in position with His will?
Joy is the proper perspective as we place Jesus first, others second and your self last.
If we reach out, God moves towards us bringing us into connection with His Everlasting Life.
Be still and know that I am God. As we take our place in Christ’s body we stand firm and nothing moves us. We are still and know that He is God that He is exalted.
God moves and it is in Him that we live, move and have our being. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. But all things are possible to him who believes. We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, the end of our faith.
Your Kingdom COME. The Comforter has COME.
The God of All Comfort
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
Your Will DONE.
I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
It is FINISHED.
Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Jesus is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. The Source and Finisher of Faith.
In Him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.
So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Certainly his loyal followers will soon experience his deliverance; then his splendor will again appear in our land.
What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to Him?
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.”
When You came down long ago, You did awesome things beyond our highest expectations, and Oh, how the mountains quaked! For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like You who works for those who wait for Him! You welcome those who cheerfully do good, who follows Gods ways.
The heavens DECLARE the glory of God;
The skies PROCLAIM the work of His HANDS.
One Day to the next SHOWS PROOF,
One Night to another GIVES EVIDENCE.
No word is spoken, No voice is heard.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him. Colossians 1:17-19
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27
Not a novelty performance; rather, it is the foundation of the kingdom of God in that it establishes the church as the place where God moves on the earth through His Spirit.
They expect a political kingdom, but God moves in people’s hearts to transform individuals and communities.
When the holy day of Pentecost came 50 days after Passover, they were gathered together in one place.
Picture yourself among the disciples:
A sound roars from the sky without warning, the roar of a violent wind, and the whole house where you are gathered reverberates with the sound. Then a flame appears, dividing into smaller flames and spreading from one person to the next. All the people present are filled with the Holy Spirit and begin speaking in languages they’ve never spoken, as the Spirit empowers them.
This is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel. Hear what God says!
In the last days,
I will offer My Spirit to humanity as a libation. (Drink offering, turning water into wine; marriage feast)
Your children will boldly speak the word of the Lord.
Young warriors will see visions,
and your elders will dream dreams.
Yes, in those days I shall offer My Spirit to all servants, both male and female, and they will boldly speak My word.
And in the heaven above and on the earth below, I shall give signs of impending judgment: blood, fire, and clouds of smoke.
The sun will become a void of darkness, and the moon will become blood.
Then the great and dreadful day of the Lord will arrive,
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be liberated into God’s freedom and peace.
All of you Israelites, listen to my message: it’s about Jesus of Nazareth, a man whom God authenticated for you by performing in your presence powerful deeds, wonders, and signs through Him, just as you yourselves know. This man, Jesus, who came into your hands by God’s sure plan and advanced knowledge, you nailed to a cross and killed in collaboration with lawless outsiders. But God raised Jesus and unleashed Him from the agonizing birth pangs of death, for death could not possibly keep Jesus in its power.
David spoke of Jesus’ resurrection, saying:
I see the Lord is ever present with me.
I will not live in fear or abandon my calling because He guides my right hand.
My heart is glad; my soul rejoices;
my body is safe.
You will not abandon me to experience the suffering of a miserable afterlife,
nor leave Your Holy One to rot alone.
Instead, You direct me on a path that leads to a beautiful life.
As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending, and I know true joy and contentment.
My fellow Israelites, I can say without question that David our ancestor died and was buried, and his tomb is with us today. David wasn’t speaking of himself; he was speaking as a prophet. He saw with prophetic insight that God had made a solemn promise to him: God would put one of his descendants on His throne. Here’s what David was seeing in advance; here’s what David was talking about—the Anointed One would be resurrected. Think of David’s words about Him not being abandoned to the place of the dead nor being left to decay in the grave. He was talking about Jesus, the One God has raised, whom all of us have seen with our own eyes and announce to you today. Since Jesus has been lifted to the right hand of God—the highest place of authority and power—and since Jesus has received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has now poured out what you have seen and heard here today.
Remember: David couldn’t have been speaking of himself rising to the heavens when he said,
The Master said to my master,
“Sit here at My right hand,
in the place of honor and power,
And I will gather Your enemies together,
lead them in on hands and knees,
and You will rest Your feet on their backs.”
Everyone in Israel should now realize with certainty what God has done: God has made Jesus both Lord and Anointed King—this same Jesus whom you crucified.
Reconsider your lives; change your direction.
Participate in the ceremonial washing of baptism in the name of Jesus God’s Anointed, the Liberating King. Then your sins will be forgiven, and the gift of the Holy Spirit will be yours. For the promise of the Spirit is for you, for your children, for all people—even those considered outsiders and outcasts—the Lord our God invites everyone to come to Him.
Just as God raised Jesus from a decaying body, Peter holds out hope for God to liberate those who follow Him from their decaying culture.
Whoever made a place for his message in their hearts received the baptism.
There was an intense sense of togetherness among all who believed; they shared all their material possessions in trust. They sold any possessions and goods that did not benefit the community and used the money to help everyone in need. They were unified as they worshiped at the temple day after day. In homes, they broke bread and shared meals with glad and generous hearts. The new disciples praised God, and they enjoyed the goodwill of all the people of the city. Day after day the Lord added to their number everyone who was experiencing liberation.
The Life of Freedom
Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. Galatians 5:1
When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace. Meanwhile we expectantly wait for a satisfying relationship with the Spirit. For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love.
“I will live among you and I will not despise you. I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be My people.” Leviticus 26:11-12
Do two people walk hand in hand if they aren’t going to the same place? (Amos 3:3)
And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people”. 2 Corinthians 6:16
Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited His people and redeemed them. He has sent us a mighty savior from the royal line of His servant David, just as He promised through the holy prophets long ago. Luke 1:68
He who comes from above is above all; He who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
For whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the the Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him. John 3:34-36
For the Lord will remove His hand of judgment and will disperse the armies of your enemy. And the Lord Himself, King of Israel, will live among you! At last your troubles will be over, and you will fear disaster no more.
We live in turbulent times but our times are in His hands. The hands that were outstretched
on the cross ransom and transform us from the darkness into His Kingdom of light.
There is a river whose streams gladden God’s city, the holy dwelling place of the Most High. God is in its midst. it will not be toppled; by daybreak God will come to its aid. Nations rage, kingdoms topple; at the sound of the thunder the earth dissolves. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our haven. Psalm 46:5-8
On that day the announcement to Jerusalem will be, “Cheer up, Zion! Don’t be afraid! For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. With His love he will calm all of your fears. He will exult over you by singing a happy song.” Zephaniah 3:15-17
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid you with the lifeblood of Christ, the sinless spotless Lamb of God. God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to earth for all to see. And he did this for you. 1 Peter 1:18-20
