To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations–
Hebrews 11:1, 1 Peter 4:17, Revelation 2:26
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
James 5:6, Ephesians 6:12
“Why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but don’t do what I tell you?”
“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due Me? If I am a master, where is the respect due Me?“ says the LORD Almighty.
“It is you, O priests, who show contempt for My name. “But you ask, ‘How have we shown contempt for Your name?‘
Although Jesus was the Son of God, He learned to be obedient through His sufferings.
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death–
even death on a cross!
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Hebrews 5:8, Philippians 2:8, Isaiah 53:5
Faith and Deeds
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men–robbers, evildoers, adulterers–or even like this tax collector.’
That man had no room for God because he was so full of SELF-PRIDE.
He got his reward for what he did was theft by deception to receive the praise of men. Jesus Christ did not commend him for this
dialogue. There was no relating to God whatsoever because Jesus is very clear that He calls those His friends and family IF they do whatever He tells them and He only does the will of the Father who sent Him.
Jesus did not come to call the healthy but the sick to repent–to
turn around and come to Him who is the Living Word sent by God the Father to heal and deliver from sin and destruction. Those who say they have no sin, make Him out to be a liar but Jesus is The Way,
The Truth and The Life and no man comes to the Father except by Him.
They are of their father, the devil, for the truth is not in them.
The Father is seeking those who will really worship Him–in spirit and in truth.
Yes Jesus was right–the harlots and tax collectors are entering the Kingdom ahead of the scholars of the law and the Pharisees are standing on the wrong side of the door. Jesus is the door to Life everlasting and more Abundant. There is no room for shallow pedantic thinking in the heart of the Father who gave His only Son that whosoever believes will not perish. Faith without works is dead. Faith works by love for apart from Him we can do nothing.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ. In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Hebrews 3:6, Ephesians 3:12, Galatians 6:10
(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
Hebrews 7:19, Hebrews 4:14
We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.
Hebrews 3:14, Isaiah 50:5
