The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; He will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
Isaiah 4:4, Ezekiel 36:25
Judgment and Covenant Renewal
As is the days of Elijah, people were sitting on the fence one foot
in the grave and the other poised to make a decision for God–at the
last moment–TRUSTING that they would have time before death to do so.
But God put their thoughts and ways to the test there …
He instructed Elijah to build an altar to him and to dig a deep trench around it and then fill it and refill it and continue to pour out water until it was thoroughly drenched to overflowing with the living water of His holy Word. Then God spoke through His prophet
Elijah: THE GOD THAT ANSWERS BY FIRE IS THE LORD!
Oh to be sure, the false prophets of man made religious thinking and the filthy rags of man’s covering “humanitarian efforts, good deeds”
exhausted them SELVES and God did not answer their cries for they were double minded, unstable in all their ways. NOTE: NEITHER DID ANY OTHER ‘god’ ANSWER THEM…For there is no God beside the Lord.
“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire, ” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty.
“Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
“See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
John was baptizing in the Jordan in the same spirit of prophetic utterance as Elijah. He called the people to make a stand for God
or fall by the wayside in their sins. Even as the generation that passed in the wilderness reaped the fruit of their own words, God gives us what we really believe.
This is what John said of the One who was coming, the Word sent by Almighty God the Father:
“I baptize you with water so that you will change the way you think and act. But the one who comes after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.”
At this time, Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. The moment he came out of the water, he saw the sky split open and God’s Spirit, looking like a dove, come down on him. Along with the Spirit, a voice: “You are my Son, chosen and marked by my love, pride of my life.”
God’s Kingdom Is Here
Immediately God’s Spirit sent God’s Son, Jesus into the desert the barren wilderness to test God’s Word in Him. God’s Word is alive and sharper than any double edged sword for it judges and lays bare the true heart of man exposing his intentions whether they are really God pleasing or not. Jesus passed the test that man does not live by “bread” or pleasing him self (his flesh, his material nature) alone but man lives by every Word that comes out of God’s mouth for God created the heavens and the earth by the power of His Word. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life of God manifest in our presence to show us how to live right in complete agreement with God’s Word and how to walk before Him and be holy, perfect, blameless in His sight.
We are made clean, pure, spotless by the washing of the water of His living Word!
Even the wilderness will rejoice in those days.
The desert will blossom with flowers. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy!
The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel’s pastures and the plain of Sharon.
There the LORD will display His glory, the splendor of our God.
With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those who are afraid, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will shout and sing! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the desert. The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land. Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish where desert jackals once lived. And a main road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-hearted people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there. Lions will not lurk along its course, and there will be no other dangers. Only the redeemed will follow it. Those who have been ransomed by the LORD will return to Jerusalem, singing songs of everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be overcome with joy and gladness.”
Today there are many “voices” clamoring for your attention. Follow Jesus and heed them not. His sheep hear His voice
and follow Him, the voice of another they will not follow. The Lord delights to lead you into the land of His abundance. Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness for behold He prepares a table for you here in the wilderness in the presence of your enemies — a bountiful table laden with blessings of right living in His Faithfulness and Truth. Extend the invitation to all who are weary and faint from going their own way.
Speak His Word only!
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be well pleasing in Your sight Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.
Jesus already told us that in the world we would have many trials and troubles but to be of good cheer — take heart — be en-couraged
for He has overcome the world and this is the victorious good news that overcomes the world — even our faith!
This is the Way, walk in it.
This is the Truth, be fulfilled in it.
This is the Life, live in it.
Fear not, only believe THEN you shall see the glory of God. The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God
as the waters cover the seas.
This is the GOOD NEWS of the Kingdom of His Peace. We have durable riches in Christ Jesus in glory. Nothing in this world can hold a candle to Him. Our hearts are ablaze with holy fire in love with Him who is the fairest One and the light that shines in the darkness that is not overcome. He is the victory over everything for all things are under His feet.
God blesses the pure in heart–the pure in heart SEE GOD!
This is the Good News about Jesus the Living Water sent from the all-consuming fiery passionate heart of Almighty Father God. He is the fulfillment of all the law and every prophetic utterance spoken from the mouth of God.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
I John 1: 9, Micah 7:18
Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer. For the joy of the Lord is your strength. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
Praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever. Praise the Lord for His love never fails. I pray that you, being rooted and established in His love may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Amen
