I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Psalm 40:1, 3
Your number one job is to keep the “One thing” the main thing!
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus who is the Author and Perfecter (Complete, Finished, Whole) of your faith.
He is the Beginning and the End and He is Faithful and True.
What God promises, He keeps. He never forsakes or betrays His family. He neither slumbers or sleeps for He watches over His Word to perform it. He never ignores and is never too busy for any of His children.
Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.
Lord, show me how to constantly progress into the likeness of Your Obedient One who is the Firstborn of the family. May all whose lives touch mine, see the Family Resemblance in His Spirit and Truth lighting the darkness to show them the Way back to the Father in Love. Satisfy me only in Your Way, Truth and Life for apart from You there is no other. In Jesus’ name Amen.
What do you think a person who shows no respect for the Son of God deserves? That person looks at the blood of the promise (the blood that made him holy) as no different from other people’s blood, and he insults the Spirit that God gave us out of His kindness.
He deserves a much worse punishment.
We know the God who said,
“I alone have the right to take revenge.
I will pay back.”
God also said,
“The Lord will judge His people.”
Falling into the hands of the living God is a terrifying thing.
Remember the past, when you first learned the truth. You endured a lot of hardship and pain. At times you were publicly insulted and mistreated. At times you associated with people who were treated this way. You suffered with prisoners. You were cheerful even though your possessions were stolen, since you know that you have a better and more permanent possession.
So don’t lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward. You need endurance so that after you have done what God wants you to do, you can receive what He has promised.
“Yet, the one who is coming will come soon. He will not delay.
The person who has God’s approval will live because of faith.
But if he turns back, I will not be pleased with him.”
We don’t belong with those who turn back and are destroyed.
Instead, we belong with those who have faith and are saved.
Jesus is saying that the hour is late and it is high time to be up and about our Father’s business. His return is very near and will there be any found faithful in doing what He says as they eagerly wait for Him?
“Can’t you stick it out with Me a single hour? Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation without even knowing you’re in danger. There is a part of you that is eager, ready for anything in God. But there’s another part that’s as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.”
Years back a home supply company had a slogan, “we’ll keep the light on for you.” Isn’t that the real purpose of a night light? To help one to find his way without stumbling or worse? While we wait, we watch and pray for those the Lord has placed within our sphere of influence that they may find the Way home too.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
