We walk by faith and not by sight. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and doing whatever He tells you to do as obedient children who long to please their father in love. Obedient children trust their father to know what is the best for their lives. When a child does not obey, it is called at the very least disagreeable and at worst–rebellious, wayward or just plain lost.
A wise child brings honor to the family name.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will. Who has saved us and called us to a holy life–not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, Now with the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus, He has revealed it. Christ has destroyed death, and through the Good News He has brought eternal life into full view.
Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 1:9-10
Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT seen.
To Thomas, the doubting disciple, Jesus said:
“Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
My faith is with You, Lord. Even though I cannot see what lies around the next bend, my faith is strong and secure. I KNOW You will not lead me astray.
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, the reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8-9
For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love.
Romans 8:29, Ephesians 1:4
Because you are children who obey God, don’t live the kind of lives you once lived. Once you lived to satisfy your desires because you didn’t know any better. That way you won’t be guided by sinful human desires as you live the rest of your lives on earth. Instead, you will be guided by what God wants you to do. He saved us, but not because of anything we had done to gain His approval. Instead, because of His mercy he saved us through the washing in which the Holy Spirit gives us new birth and renewal.
1 Peter 1:14, 1 Peter 4:2, Titus 3:5
In John 3:5 Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
In the same way, brothers and sisters, you have died to the laws in Moses’ Teachings through Christ’s body. You belong to someone else, the one who was brought back to life. As a result, we can do what God wants. So consider yourselves dead to sin’s power but living for God in the power Christ Jesus gives you.
Romans 7:4, Romans 6:11
For you have died to yourselves and your lives are hidden with The Messiah in God. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:3, Philippians 3:14
