The chosen ones of God must watch over His Word and guard His Covenant.
“You must distinguish between what is sacred and what is common, between what is ceremonially unclean and what is clean.”
Her priests do violence to My law and profane My holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as My priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”
But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.
Therefore this is what the LORD says:
“If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve Me;
if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be My spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.”
(Ezekiel 22:26, Hosea 4:6, Jeremiah 23:22, Jeremiah 15:19)
“So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock–His church, purchased with His own blood–over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as elders.” (Acts 20:28) “The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that he Has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him.” (Ephesians 1:14)
“And let them make Me a sanctuary (lit. “Sacred place”) that I may dwell among them.
According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it” (Exodus 25:1).
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey–whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Romans 6:16)
Never offer any part of your body to sin’s power. No part of your body should ever be used to do any ungodly thing. Instead, offer yourselves to God as people who have come back from death and are now alive. Offer all the parts of your body to God. Use them to do everything that God approves of. (Romans 6:13)
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice–the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. (Romans 12:1)
God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He freed us from sin. (1 Corinthians 1:30)
Be as Phineas* who took the sword and removed the corrupting influence of sin and destruction from My people and I will give you the blessing of My covenant of everlasting peace.
For does not the name Phinehas mean Mouth of Brass (an Oracle) even as the brazen instruments of My temple proclaim My Truth. Warn them by proclaiming My Truth which is the cleansing blood and water of My Son, the Lamb. Flee to Him as a refuge, a safe haven of protection. Put trust in Christ alone and make no provision for the flesh, for what man can save himself — I alone am your Confidence. All who hope in Me will never be put to shame.
O my people, crushed on the threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the LORD Almighty, from the God of Israel.
He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the LORD Almighty.
This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “The Daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time it is trampled; the time to harvest her will soon come.” Yet her profit and her earnings will be set apart for the LORD; they will not be stored up or hoarded. Her profits will go to those who live before the LORD, for abundant food and fine clothes.
Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to thresh; so I will put a yoke on her fair neck. I will drive Ephraim, Judah must plow, and Jacob must break up the ground.
“Arise and thresh, daughter of Zion, For your horn I will make iron And your hoofs I will make bronze, That you may pulverize many peoples, That you may devote to the LORD their unjust gain And their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.”
“See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.”
“You are my war club, my weapon for battle–with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms.”
(Isaiah 21:10, Psalm 147:14, Haggai 2:8, Jeremiah 51:33,
Isaiah 23:18, Hosea 10:11, Micah 4:13, Isaiah 41:15,
A sound conscience is a wall of brass.
I will exchange your bronze for gold, your iron for silver, your wood for bronze, and your stones for iron. I will make peace your leader and righteousness your ruler. No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.
“I will restore your judges as in days of old, your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.”
Then you will know that I sent you this warning so that My promise to Levi will continue,” says the LORD of Armies. “The purpose of My covenant with the Levites was to bring life and peace, and that is what I gave them. This required reverence from them, and they greatly revered Me and stood in awe of My name. They passed on to the people the truth of the instructions they received from Me. They did not lie or cheat; they walked with Me, living good and righteous lives, and they turned many from lives of sin. The words of a priest’s lips should preserve knowledge of God, and people should go to him for instruction, for the priest is the messenger of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
They must teach My people the difference between what is holy and what is unholy. They must show the people how to tell the difference between what is clean and what is unclean.
Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be Mine. I am the LORD.
The Lord knows those who are His.
2 Timothy 2:19
Remember we don’t want to have Jesus rebuke us by asking, “where is your faith?”
When Jesus returns let Him find us faithful and true.
Let it be said of us that He finds no greater joy than that His children are walking in the Truth.
Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
Psalm 37:37, 2 Corinthians 5:20, Psalm 61:5
I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the Tent of Meeting.
“He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood, because he was zealous for the honor of his God and made atonement for the Israelites.”
