Lilies are a symbol of purity, chastity, innocence and resurrection,
and sometimes chosen for bridal bouquets.
Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.
For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
(Romans 3:24, Colossians 1:13, Ephesians 1:7)
Put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.
A lily is a sweet and a flagrant flower with a strong scent.
Be as Lilies whose scent attracts others even as the Trumpet clearly calls. You are His Holy Shofar proclaiming His heart to the world.
The Bible mentions lilies 15 times in 15 different verses. Of these 15 mentions, 8 of them occur in the Song of Solomon which is a love song.
I will listen to Your Word and take them to heart. As King David,
“Thy Word have I written on my heart that I sin not against Thee.”
The many places the lily is found in the Bible (valleys, fields, gardens, even among thorns) shows the lily to be symbolic of a perennially enduring family grown from a bulb and having typically trumpet-shaped flowers, some white and some colored.
The lily speaks of the rapid spiritual growth that comes in even the most unlikely of places with God’s blessing upon it.
A Lily is a picture of the beauty of purity.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
A lily is very fruitful.
From one lily’s root may put forth fifty bulbs. Even as the Lord Jesus in his death and resurrection is the Lord of Life to those
who call on Him.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit. (John 12:24)
It is by bearing much fruit that He glorified the Father and as we abide in Him it brings much glory and honor to our Father.
The lily is tall and erect yet hangs its head down.
Even though the lily can grow quite tall, they are the image of the humble of heart with their heads nodding downwards as the Son of Man came not to be served but to give his life a ransom for many. We as co-heirs with Christ follow in His footsteps doing justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God our Father.
The lily has many medicinal qualities.
Jesus is the Great Physician yet even the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations. His Father’s house is a House of
Prayer for the nations and as it is written in Psalm 2:8, the Father says:
“Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.”
The Molten Sea
Called the Brazen Sea of 2 Chronicles 4:1-10 and 1 Chronicles 18:8
whose brim had engraved work with “flowers of lilies.”
Lily work was also used at the tops of some of the pillars in the temple (1Kings 7:16, 22)
IT GUARDED ACCESS TO THE TEMPLE
IT WAS FILLED WITH WATER
IT IS A PICTURE OF CHRIST WHO IS THE LIVING WORD OF GOD
Now ye are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you.
That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word.
(John 15:3, Ephesians 5:26)
ITS BRIMFUL OF LILY WORK LIKE THE BRIM OF A CUP
INVITES THE POOR, THE WEARY, THE THIRSTY TO COME AND DRINK
Ho, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
(Isaiah 55:1, Revelation 22:17)
Lilies are a beautiful work of God
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will–so that the kindness he had given us in His dear Son would be praised and given glory. (Philippians 2:13, Ephesians 1:5-6)
God honors those who honor Him
He allows the hard times to grow and increase our faith and perseverance in the gospel Truth.
We shall gather at the River. The river of Living Water which flows from Emmanuel’s side. Hear the clear trumpet call of the everlasting gospel sounding forth to proclaim liberty and victory in the land. The lilies as trumpet release the steady flow of forgiving merciful love to whosoever will come and partake of God’s gracious gift.
