As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. At once they left their nets and followed him.
Matthew 4:18; 20
Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds–like the fish of the Great Sea.
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
Matthew 1:21 Acts 10:43 Acts 4:12 Acts 13:26 1 Timothy 2:5
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” Jeremiah 2:13
The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
Psalm 19:8 Psalm 34:5 Psalm 43:3
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD,
“when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.”
Instead, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them. Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and remarked,
“Here is a true Israelite who is sincere.”
Then Nathanael declared,
“Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
There was a written notice above him, which read:
THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. The people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises.
John 4:22 Romans 9:4
No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.
The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos“; another, “I follow Cephas“; still another, “I follow Christ.” So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
Acts 18:24 Acts 19:1 1 Corinthians 1:12 1 Corinthians 3:7
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant–not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
On the last and greatest day of the Feast,
Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,
“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
Matthew 5:6 John 4:14 John 7:37-38
He said to me:
“It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Revelation 21:6 Revelation 22:17
And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. …The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endures for ever
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
