“Our battle is to bring down every deceptive fantasy and every imposing defense that men erect against the true knowledge of God. We even fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5, Phillips
When rebellion has broken family ties, prayer calls on God who always can and will reach down to them no matter where they are scattered around the earth. This is the God who can muster 10,000 angels to protect in even the most dangerous situations – if we pray.
Today is my Daddy’s 85th birthday.
As he has been on my mind, I remembered the prayer of his heart before his passing — “pray for the family.”
Jesus told his disciples that greater love is laying down one’s life for friends.
When my Daddy passed from his earthly “tent” into his heavenly “home“, it gave great glory and honor to his Father’s Name.
The attending pastor testified to it, saying that she had never witnessed a more glorious “home-going” and that when she goes, she wants it to be like his: passing from the bosom of your family and friends into the arms of the Father.
There was no clinging but a letting go in complete trust and joy.
I did not say “goodbye” but the last words he heard on this side of life were, “thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Psalm 100 tells us that we enter God’s gates with Thanksgiving and go into His courts with Praise, in so doing, we bless His Name …For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.”
In the hour of Daddy’s “home-going“, we sang one of his favorites, “You Are My Sunshine” and the Lord had me to read Psalm 118,
which again underscores Psalm 100 as well as 2 Chronicles 20:
King Jehoshaphat’s Victory Song when the Lord defeated his foes.
Jesus is the Victor, He rose from the dead and conquered sin and death. Believe Him and you too can have Everlasting Life and walk in Victory!
No matter what circumstances come against you, believe on the Lord Jesus who is God’s mercy and He will see you safely through it all. It takes faith and patience to inherit God’s promises so hold tight to Him for He is the Living Word of Almighty God the Father. He never leaves or forsakes you and He is always on time.
Open to me the temple gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord.
I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Salvation and Deliverer. This is The Day which the Lord has brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
As you trust in the Lord, something miraculous happens, Salvation is yours! Victory is yours! Where the enemy sought to take your life, the Lord has transformed it into a GREAT BLESSING with every good and perfect gift that you need to reach the lost for Him and bring glory and great honor to His Holy Name.
Where sorrow and sighing sought to swallow you up, the Victor has given you joy and rejoicing in His mercy and love.
Do not give in to what something “seems” or “looks” like but look to the Almighty Father who is your Answer. Say with blessed assurance that Jesus is mine and let this knowledge still your heart with the words,
“Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” (Numbers 13:30)
Look forward with God not back with regret!
This very hour! Now is the time! Turn to Jesus with your whole heart and live a life wholly devoted to His purposes. A prayer, full life that “fasts” the selfish sinful desires that lead us into destruction. Only believe and you will see God’s glory!
“…Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passes through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walks through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior…Since thou was precious in my sight, thou hast been honorable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.” -Isaiah 43
(see John 15:13 and also the heart of Caleb who lay his life aside for the children of Israel to come in to their inheritance).
“Fear not: for I am with thee…every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him…Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
…I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
Thus saith the LORD, which makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Which brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert…T
This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
I, even I, am he that blots out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou may be justified.” (Isaiah 43)
James 5:13-20, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”
This is the VERY HOUR of which God is speaking, TODAY if you hear His voice harden not your hearts as in the rebellion (Hebrews 3:15).
“I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.” Psalms 18:3, Psalms 118:22-25, Isaiah 37:20
