But He Himself was in the stern of the boat, asleep on the leather cushion; and they awoke Him and said to Him, Master, do You not care that we are perishing?
And He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Hush now! Be still (muzzled)! And the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its beating) and there was immediately a great calm (a perfect peacefulness).
He said to them, Why are you so timid and fearful? How is it that you have no faith (no firmly relying trust)?Mark 4:38-40 Amplified Bible
It is in times of crisis that our faith is tested to prove if it is genuine. True faith is in the Lord and grows by feeding on the Truth and Faithfulness of His Word to us. Even as a starving or dehydrated man is weak from hunger and thirst, so it with our spirits if we are not taking heed to His Word and Spirit.
God calls us to Himself as little child turn to their father in the daily needs of life. A bruised knee, an injured ego, a broken toy, we learn to take it all to our father. Children have faith in their fathers whether real or imagined – for father knows best. In his arms the child is securely held in love.
Trust is faith’s confidence resting on God’s promises.
Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The eternal God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t grow tired or become weary. His understanding is beyond reach.
He gives strength to those who grow tired increases the strength of those who are weak.
Even young people grow tired and become weary, and young men will stumble and fall.
Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord
will be renewed.
They will soar on wings like eagles.
They will run and won’t become weary.
They will walk and won’t grow tired
When we reach a rock and a hard place, it is time to remember whose we are. It is time to hold on to the love that never lets go of us. In our weakness He is perfecting His power – the power of His love that removes all fear. We are no longer defined by failure but our true identity is revealed in Him. Every difficulty is measured by its value in causing us to turn to the One who holds the world in the palm of His hands. There is great peace in such love. Jesus says, come to me all you who are weary and heavily laden and I will give you rest.
Isaiah 33:6, “And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.”
My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus in glory. Those who know Him as Lord lack nothing; for He is everything to them. He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He is the fount of every blessing.
When the LORD gives you the Promises, He gives rest in abiding it.
Father, Jesus told us that there yet pertains a rest to the people of God and we want to not be like those who wandered in the wilderness but entered in to the promised land. Even as Moses was still or moved with Your Presence, we trust in Your Word and Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth. Lead, guide and enable us in everything we think, say and do to be true witnesses to Your Way, Your Truth and Your Life in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
Psalms 37:1-13, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he sees that his day is coming.”
