A Fight to the Finish
And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
(Ephesians 6:10-18, The Message)
Last night in a dream, God was training me on holy warfare as twice there were assassins coming against others and I threw my all into the fray to free my “brethren.” Although able to loose them, my strength was not enough in itself to overcome them and it resulted in a wrestling match in which I was enabled to subdue them. In the process, great discernment was given and it was this recognition of their identity (that the battle was spiritual rather than physical), that I was given the right Word to ask God’s help.
As I cried out, the Word awakened me and immediately was His response in the form of extremely loud and crashing thunder and lightning – as in the natural, so in the spiritual my God was fighting for me.
It was so loud that it sounded like a car accident. There was a calm in the loudness and as it continued, I drifted back to sleep and the dreams shifted to a different tone. In them, it was like I was a surgeon, uncovering the enemy’s lies and cleansing and covering them with the Almighty’s Truth in His Perfect Love which casts out all fear.
I awoke after that and pondered all these things in my heart, reflecting that it is not by might, nor by power but by His holy Spirit
within us that we have strength and power to prevail.
Not only that, but we have an Advocate, a Defender who is sitting at the right hand of Almighty God, the Father, He is Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and, “He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him because He always lives to intercede for them.” (Hebrews 7:25)
When the Promises Are Mixed with Faith
In my dream, the assassins carried a “Saracen’s Scimitar“,
which symbolizes the twisted blade (perversion of the truth) as used by the enemy–as it is written in John 8:44,
“…He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.”
But again, not so God’s weaponry,
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
(Hebrews 4:12-16, NLT)
Saracen means, “those empty of Sarah” or “not from Sarah” as it is written in Romans 9:6-8 (CVE), God’s everlasting covenant with Abraham’s promised seed of Sarah,
“It cannot be said that God broke his promise. After all, not all of the people of Israel are the true people of God. In fact, when God made the promise to Abraham, he meant only Abraham’s descendants by his son Isaac.”
As such, the term “Saracen” carries connotations of people living on the fringes of settled society, living off raids and killing.
Jesus tells us clearly in John 10:10-11 (Amplified),
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [overflows).
I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.”
John of Damascus, described the Saracens in the early 8th century thus:
“There is also the people-deceiving cult (threskeia) of the Ishmaelites, the forerunner of the Antichrist, which prevails until now. It derives from Ishmael, who was born to Abraham from Hagar, wherefore they are called Hagarenes and Ishmaelites. And they call them Saracens, inasmuch as they were sent away empty-handed by Sarah (ek tes Sarras kenous); for it was said to the angel by Hagar: “Sarah has sent me away empty-handed” yet this is not Biblically correct, for in Genesis 21:14, we read that,
“And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.”
Further, even though the covenant was clearly made to Abraham in Isaac, yet in Genesis 21:15-20 we see God making provision for Ishmael and his descendants in the natural; and in Galations 3:26-29, we see spiritual provision made and freely offered by election to whomsoever will believe on His Christ,
“For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith.
For as many [of you] as were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union and communion with Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah] have put on (clothed yourselves with) Christ.
There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male [and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham’s Seed], then you are Abraham’s offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.”
The motivation behind the attack comes from the father of all lies, who is fueling the hatred between peoples. The etymology of the
scimitar shows it to have derived from the sabre which
comes from the Hungarian verb for “to cut down” and the
Turkish words Kara, meaning “dark“, and bela, meaning “curse.”
The scimitar is commonly associated with the Saracens who fought against the Crusaders in the Holy Land as a close contact weapon, in slicing attacks, often from horseback. The scimitar has a distinctly curved blade ending in a sharp point whose blow could apply tremendous force inflicting significant injury to a knight in armor–
capable of cutting off the limbs or head of an enemy in one stroke.
Its effectiveness in warfare was limited to close combat as it was difficult to wield and required great training to become accurate. It was not designed to stab, merely to chop and slice, so its usage was not effective against a heavily armored opponent.
The Accuser of the Brethren
It vaguely resembles a fish-hook. And like a fisherman’s hook it baits and attempts to draw one with half-truths and lies in order to strike at lightly armored opponents, and to trap their weapon allowing a strike with another weapon held in the other hand.
“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God’s will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow [believer in Christ).
For this is the message (the announcement) which you have heard from the first, that we should love one another,
[And] not be like Cain who [took his nature and got his motivation] from the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his deeds (activities, works) were wicked and malicious and his brother’s were righteous (virtuous).
Do not be surprised and wonder, brethren, that the world detests and pursues you with hatred.
We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians). He who does not love abides (remains, is [held and kept continually) in [spiritual] death.
Anyone who hates (abominates, detests) his brother [in Christ] is [at heart] a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding (persevering) within him.
By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].
(1 John 3:10-16 Amplified Bible)
God’s commands are clear– we are our “brother’s keeper“, even as Joseph who took the initiative in naming his sons prophetically, “Making to Forget” (Manasseh) and
“Doubly Fruitful” (Ephraim) years before telling his brethren in Genesis 50:19-21,
“And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”
Likewise Job–in Job 42:10; 12,
“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before; So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning.”.”
God’s command is clear,
“For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous…
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death. Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he hath given”
(1 John 3)
We must make it our aim to be even as Queen Esther–with our true identity hidden in Christ Jesus, having come to the Kingdom for such a time as this to be even as He–obedient doers of the Word, as it is written in John 15:13, Mark 8:35 and Revelation 12:11, and Galatians 2:20,
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
ACT ON IT
…and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God that loved and gave himself for me.
No longer a faith IN faith but a faith that TRANSCENDS all imaginable limits.
A faith that comes only from the Son of God who gave His life for me.
