Psalms 127:3, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
“Ask of me, and I shall give thee [the Messiah] the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them [the rebellious heathen] with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel [because it turned out defective].” (Psalm 2:9)
Revelation 22:16, “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
Genesis 3:14-15, “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
“And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. . . . and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. (Rev. 12:2-5)
Revelation 12:17, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
Through out the Bible, we see the rebellion of Lucifer against God and how he tries to position himself between God and man. He seduced the first woman (Eve is the mother of all) with beguiling words to turn from the simple truth that God is her only true source. He tries to come between God’s truly believing children as the voice of the accuser. Satan, the devil, the fallen angel formerly known as Lucifer is the accuser of the brethren of Jesus Christ, who is the Living Word of God. His favorite line of attack is to twist and pervert words to cause men to fall from God’s grace whether by fear, doubt, unbelief or any other enticement to sin. Sin is not believing and obeying what God tells you to do.
Psalms 119:160, “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endures for ever.”
John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
Throughout the ages, God’s enemy is our enemy because he tries to keep us from our loving Father whose plans are perfect for us.
The serpent starts early by seeking to devour God’s Seed, His Word.
Matthew 13:1-4, 19:
“The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up…
…When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.”
Throughout the ages, as the enemy tried to prevent Jesus from ever being born, God raised up mothers to protect His Inheritance.
There was even a legal provision requiring a dead man’s brother (levirate) to marry his childless widow and father a son who would assume the dead man’s name and inherit his portion of the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 25:5-10). This law was instituted to protect and keep the family’s inheritance from becoming desolate.
The heart of the levirate marriage goes back to Genesis where we see that we are to be our brother’s keeper which is fulfilled in the word of
Matthew 22:37-40, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
The leverite marriage is a vital element in the story of Ruth (Ruth 2:20; Ruth 3:2,Ruth 3:9-13; Ruth 4:1-11).
Ruth and Tamar were two crucial women in Jesus’ lineage that fought with their own lives to prevent this family tree from becoming a desolate inheritance.
Thus says the LORD, “In a favorable time I have answered You, And in a day of salvation I have helped You; And I will keep You and give You for a covenant of the people, To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages (Isaiah 49:8 NASB).”
She put aside her reputation along with her mourning clothes as a widow in Israel to place her life and inheritance in God’s hands and because she relied on God’s hesed (lovingkindness and favor), He honored her for that and did not leave her heritage desolate.
Now it was about three months later that Judah was informed,
“Your daughter-in-law Tamar has played the harlot, and behold, she is also with child by harlotry.” Then Judah said, “Bring her out and let her be burned!” It was while she was being brought out that she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “I am with child by the man to whom these things belong.” And she said, “Please examine and see, whose signet ring and cords and staff are these?” Judah recognized them, and said, “She is more righteous than I, inasmuch as I did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not have relations with her again (Gen. 38:24-26).”
She gave up her home in Moab and her people to restore Naomi’s desolate heritage and the LORD honored her for that.
And he said, Who are you? And she answered, I am Ruth your maidservant. Spread your wing [of protection] over your maidservant, for you are a next of kin. And he said, Blessed be you of the Lord, my daughter. For you have made this last loving-kindness greater than the former, for you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, fear not. I will do for you all you require, for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of strength (worth, bravery, capability). It is true that I am your near kinsman; however, there is a kinsman nearer than I. Remain tonight, and in the morning if he will perform for you the part of a kinsman, good; let him do it. But if he will not do the part of a kinsman for you, then, as the Lord lives, I will do the part of a kinsman for you. Lie down until the morning (Ruth 3:9-13 AMP).
Then Boaz said, The day you buy the field of Naomi, you must buy also Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the dead man, to restore the name of the dead to his inheritance. And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest [by marrying a Moabitess] I endanger my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption yourself, for I cannot redeem it. Now formerly in Israel this was the custom concerning redeeming and exchanging. To confirm a transaction, a man pulled off his sandal and gave it to the other. This was the way of attesting in Israel. Therefore, when the kinsman said to Boaz, Buy it for yourself, he pulled off his sandal. And Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, You are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s from the hand of Naomi. Also Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have bought to be my wife to restore the name of the dead to his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his birthplace. You are witnesses this day. And all the people at the gate and the elders said, We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the household of Israel. May you do worthily and get wealth (power) in Ephratah and be famous in Bethlehem. And let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring which the Lord will give you by this young woman. So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord caused her to conceive, and she bore a son. And the women said to Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, Who has not left you this day without a close kinsman, and may his name be famous in Israel (Ruth 4:5-14).
In the same way, you are fighting for our inheritance in the LORD, which is of the House of David.
When we declare and praise God’s WORD as True and Enduring to ALL generations, we are putting the enemy on notice by saying “I will not allow it to come to a desolate end.”
We are asking for the Kinsman redeemer to come that doesn’t care about losing His inheritance either.
His Word is Faithful and True and He has promised to restore David’s House (Amos 9:11) through people like you!!!
1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Revelation 12:10-17, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
