Jesus gives clear instruction that they be not deceived and the signs of the End’s coming.
He counsels them (and us) to not be terrified: for this too shall pass.
They are merely signposts of the coming Kingdom.
They signal the upheaval and overturning of all earthly kingdoms and even the natural order of things.
And it will be a time of great persecution as the darkness in the hearts and thoughts of mankind is revealed yet for those who know their God and fear His holy name, it shall be turned for a testimony. Moreover, Jesus said,
“Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls.”
Keep your eyes on the place where God’s name is in the earth today – Jerusalem – when they come against His people in the land of His promise – Then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled – There shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people – Until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Men’s hearts will be failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.
Philippians 4:8 is a KEY to victorious living for as a man thinks, so he goes.
James chapter 3, verses 13-18 tell us,
Live Well, Live Wisely
Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn’t wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn’t wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn’t wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom—it’s animal cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats.
Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.
Thoughts have power and the battlefield is the mind.
What is “occupying” your mind controls your life. You may think that no one sees, but it is revealed in your words, expressions and actions. What you give heed to, grows in strength and power in your life. More than anything, what you think sets the course of your life.
Again, I ask what is “occupying” your mind?
Changes in attitudes result in changes in latitudes! Begin today to chart a course for the best you by choosing your thoughts with care.
“You have minds like a snake pit! How do you suppose what you say is worth anything when you are so foul-minded? It’s your heart, not the dictionary, that gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”
But thanks be to God, He has given us the KEY to victorious living in Christ Jesus our Lord! We can apply the healing blood of the sinless Lamb of GOD (Jesus Christ) over the lintels and doorposts (our thoughts and hearts) and,
Place Your Life Before God
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. -Romans 12:1-2
While there is still time, Today, choose wisely to spend your time thinking and doing what is well-pleasing to your Father God. Determine to no longer give Satan a free pass into your thought-life because if you give him a place, like a cancer he will not be content but will invade your heart and consume your life unto death.
God is teaching you as dearly beloved children how to grow up and be like Jesus! Were not Jesus’ disciples “schooled” in the REALITY of God’s only begotten Son in everyday intimacy of true fellowship? Those that come to God must trust Him and be swift to do whatever He tells you to do for it is for your salvation!
Now you can see that it is a battle for your life that begins in your thoughts and how you spend your time. Fight the good fight of faith as a well-trained (disciplined) soldier and leave no place for the devil to invade and “occupy” your land which is hallowed ground before Almighty God. He will ask an account of your stewardship of it in the time you were given on this earth. For we are not our own, we are bought with a price – the precious blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ.
You can change your life by changing your thinking! You can change your thinking by changing how you spend your time. Do not allow yourself to be drawn off onto enemy territory where you are an easy mark. Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6) and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. God has not left you defenseless – He has given you everything you need that pertains to life and godliness through TRUSTING Him and appropriating His gifts and enablings. Prayer is our lifeline to the only power source strong enough to withstand our mortal foe.
Be aware of your surroundings. If it causes your mind to drift and wander away from the pure and peaceable Kingdom of God then it is hostile environment and an enticing trap – RUN!
Again, take Philippians 4:8 (below) as a KEY to change your thoughts.
He Is Your Life
So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.
Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.
If you want to be ready for what is coming and/or you have had enough of the enemy “occupying” your thoughts, words and deeds and want to know the peace and freedom found only in the Spirit and Truth of the Son of God, pray with me today,
Father, today I understand that my life is a result of the choices and thoughts I made yesterday. Help me to turn away from the lies that the enemy has “planted” in my heart from the invasive and suggestive thoughts he supplanted in my mind. Transform the way I think this day and forward and help me to use my time wisely, redeeming the days for the are evil. Fill my heart and mind with a pure and holy desire going forward with no looking back to accomplish everything You have given me as a sacred “trust” (stewardship). I thank You that You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind in Christ Jesus! A mind to will and to do Your approved purpose for my life. I will allow Philippians 4:8 to guide my thinking from this day forward and I ask all this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
