John 1:12-13, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
But if we live in the light in the same way that God is in the light, we have a relationship with each other. And the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from every sin. 1 John 1:7 GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Titus 2:14 “…who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
“We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Are you quick to call the name of Jesus when something goes wrong? Does God enter your mind when you’re having the best day?
God wants our thoughts, motives, and actions to be based on Him. Our lives should be based on His word. Do all you can to make HIS name Great.
It is human nature to pray for things to come out all in our favor — whether we deserve it or not. But prayer doesn’t allow that, for it is petition to God. And His treatment of His creatures conforms to the purity of His innermost nature.
Jesus only said and did whatever His Father showed him and he spent much time in prayer. The disciples witnessed up close and personal the miracle-working power of God the Father operating through Jesus’ life. So they asked him to teach them how to pray and this is how:
“When you pray, say,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.”
We are to approach God as Father for we are His children and He is training and disciplining us to conform us into His image. We were created with His image stamped into our very core and the world and the devil have tried to corrupt it. But the proper focus — the correct orientation of one’s heart, soul, mind and strength is on the Father and His will not our own. Even as Jesus prayed in the garden “…nevertheless not my will but Thy will be done.”
Today’s children are loved but spoiled. This is a corruption of what a real family is to be –God loves us so much that He has to take things away from us and strip us of our pride in order to bring out His beautiful nature in us.
I can live without pleasure, but I can’t live in shame. People cannot humiliate me, they cannot strip me of my true worth, my real life and identity is safely hidden in God and I am fulfilled in His measure of me. When He says “well done” all the mockery and scorn of the world and the devil fade into oblivion.
The other day while walking and talking with the Lord, asking Him what it was that I had failed to do or had done incorrectly. He caused me to look up. Because of the icy trail, my focus was down and even along an icy path, my Father had strewn little reminders of His love — a cardinal feather, it’s bright red plummage reminding me of the blood of Jesus which purchased my pardon from sin and death.
And God spoke,
Forget About Yourself
“What’s the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it even more than you do. He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries.”
Matthew 10:29-31 (The Message)
Then I found a seed pod which resembled a pom pom and wonder of wonders, it was still viable, the slightest movement caused its seeds to release and soar.
And again, the Lord spoke in answer to my prayer —
“When the Lord smelled the pleasing odor [a scent of satisfaction to His heart], the Lord said to Himself, I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the imagination (the strong desire) of man’s heart is evil and wicked from his youth; neither will I ever again smite and destroy every living thing, as I have done.
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:21-22
We must remember to seek HIM first in All things.
Yet while walking and talking with God, the alignment was still downwards in a cautious, protective frame. Was not God telling me that we are His children and it is His role as Father to provide for us and to watch over us? That when a man’s ways please the Lord, He even makes his enemies to bow down before him? And when we walk (basing our lives) in the revealed light of His Living Word (Jesus, the Son of God) , that according to Psalm 91: “He has placed you in the care of angels. They will catch you so that you won’t so much as stub your toe on a stone.” We find blessing in the midst of everything life throws our way – because we know that in accordance with His Word “all things work together for good to those who love God.” (Romans 8:28)
But how slow we are to see, to really comprehend the great love that the Father has for us in sending us His Son, Jesus Christ to bear our sins on the cross and to rise victoriously over sin and death out of the grave, preparing a Way for us to come into the very presence of the Father in a real family relationship. What great love that Jesus returned to the Father to prepare a place for us to come and live with them.
What great love that Jesus prayed for us while on earth and is at the right hand of God, the Father, ever living to pray for us. What great love that in answer to Jesus’ prayers, the Father sent us a helper, someone to lead and guide us into all truth as revealed in God’s Living Word and not only that, but to really comfort and keep us. What great love that He will not leave us to perish but will go to the uttermost to rescue us from even ourselves.
After all that questioning and tokens of my Father’s love manifest in tangible and aural form, He caused me to look up — to change perspective — to really focus, and there in true vision, was a message from my Father written on a highway underpass,
“I have you in my heart. I love you.” My questions were answered.
Father, I have made mistakes as all of Your children have. Yet because of Jesus and His great love, I carry Your seal of approval in my heart because I know You have replaced my weakness with Your joy which is strength. You have lifted my eyes from the things of this world that are perishing to give real focus on Your everlasting kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Your love never fails and with You I am more than an overcomer and the gates of hell shall not prevail against such great love. I live to make you proud of me, Abba Papa. AMEN.
“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Romans 8:26-28 (The Message)
Father, You have so much to teach us. Thank You for Your precious Holy Spirit to guide us to Your Living Word (Jesus). Lead us into Your truth and give us the power to follow and do what is shown to us. Give us the desire to love and revere Your direction and to not lean on our own understanding and miss Your very best for us. Remind us that we are here for Your purposes, not our own. Thank You for Your patience with us. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
