1 Corinthians 1:13, “Is Christ divided?“
Variety is the spice of life and indeed when people of diverse heritages come together it creates a melting pot that can simmer and if not stirred with Love, boil over in heated debate and argument.
We live in a nation rich in spiritual diversity but are called into union as the Body of Christ who is our head.
As the human body has many members, each with its unique function, so too the Body of Christ has different members with unique abilities but we are called to use our gifts together to build up the body whole and sound as one in the Lord Christ Jesus.
Every challenge that the world sets before us is an opportunity to stretch the muscles and use the God-given abilities we possess to worship together, to pray together, to reach out to the lost together, and to share (which is fellowship) together.
1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
We live in a culturally and spiritually diverse world but our kingdom is not of this world!!!
As we look to Jesus the author and finisher of our shared faith, we fit into our proper places and function together in His love following His example and direction as One.
There is a tie that binds us all together – it is the LOVE of God which is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit – the Spirit that speaks of Jesus Christ the Living Son of Almighty God the Father.
He is the heart of the Father that emptied itself to save us all from sin’s bondage to glorious freedom living in Him.
The Father’s cry is expressed in John 17:21. We are to be united in His love and be One with each other THROUGH Christ who died for us.
Father I know Your heart cries and even so, my heart is beating in Your rhythm crying out for Your children to come together in Your Son’s love. Help us to come into harmony together as one in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for the Holy Spirit who reveals the truth of Your love in Christ Jesus. This is the cornerstone of the whole church, the church not built of human hands but the precious blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. AMEN.
