Believers are transformed from lowly corrupt shadowy figures to beautiful beacons of light when clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
Like the lily, they exude a fragrant aroma of life by the graces of His Holy Spirit, as they thrive under the refreshing beams of the Sun of righteousness.
The lily is a very noble plant that can grow to a considerable height, but has a weak stem.
The church is weak in herself, yet is strong in Him that supports her.
The love of Christ, manifested by His death, and by the resurrecting power of His word, is the banner He displays, and believers seek strong consolation underneath.
As we see His face as it were “through the lattices”, we order our appearance likewise.
Christ invites us to arise and shine for the illuminating of His Word of Light and Life have come for our benefit.
It is time to awaken from sloth and despondency, and to leave the emptiness of sin and worldly pursuits, for union and communion with Him.
The long winter of our sinful, unfruitful barrenness is past.
Lo the time of blossoming in newness of life appears!
The Master is walking even now in the garden inspecting the still ripening fruits of His holiness – their blooms bearing a pleasant aroma unto Him whose grace has produced them. All these encouragements motivate us to follow our Christ more closer and completely.
1 Thessalonians 3:8, “For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.”
