“Go ahead, make my day” is a well-known, readily identifiable quote brought to life by Clint Eastwood’s character, Harry Callahan from the 1983 film
- Sudden Impact.
Did you know that it was the inspiration of the “Make My Day Law” passed in most U.S. states?
AKA, “Castle Law or Defense of Habitation Law“, it is a legal American doctrine originating from English Common Law.
- recognizes the right
that one’s PLACE (residence or legal occupation including car or place of work) is a PLACE OF PROTECTION from illegal trespass and violent attack.
- legally gives the right to use deadly force to defend that place
(one’s “castle”), including protection of
- any other innocent persons legally belonging thereto
from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack.
It is recognized as a justifiable defense in a court of law. In addition to providing a valid defense in criminal law,
it often includes a “Stand-Your-Ground Clause“, which provides immunity from any lawsuit filed on behalf of the assailant for damages/injury resulting from the use of lethal force.
With this immunity, the defender is thus protected from even civil action which could have been used for revenge against a defender acting lawfully.
There are differing instances and degrees to which these rules are applied but it is commonly agreed that any one of the following conditions invokes the law’s rights and privileges. Basically these are based upon protection of the legal occupants from unlawful and/or forcible attempt of entry intended to inflict serious bodily harm or death or commit a crime.
Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
“But if he is found out, he must restore seven times [what he stole]; he must give the whole substance of his house [if necessary—to meet his fine]” (Prov. 6:31).
Heavenly Father, I HUMBLE myself and REPENT for any bad choices I have made during the years. I ask You to bring FULL RESTORATION into my life and restore my lost years.
May the glory on my LATTER house be greater than that on my FORMER. I command everything that was taken from me and everything that was stolen from me to be restored, in the Name that is above all names: YAHSHUA (“Yah will Save!”). I command the thief to repay seven times what he stole. In the Name of Yahshua, I command every fine to be paid, and I empty the storehouse of the thief! I command the thief to restore seven times everything that he has ever taken from me, in Yahshua’s Name. Father, I thank you for the abundant harvest and fresh anointing that is coming my way! I know that You hear me according to Your Holy Word as given in Psalms 34. But that Your Name may be glorified in the sight of all doubters and unbelievers, I confess this Word publicly.
In the Name of Your Son, Yahshua. AMEN
1 Samuel 30:1-3
“And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.”
1 Samuel 30:8
“And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”
Great faith must expect such severe trials
Here David was at his lowest, his wives, children and all worldly possession stolen – even his men speaking out against him with words like “stones”– at the lowest human moment when all “seemed” lost…
“…but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”
Hebrews 13:6, ” So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
This day may the eyes of your understanding be illuminated with the light of His truth. That His life shines blazingly revealing the enemies’ deceptions -exposed for the lies that they are.
Turn humbly and cry out to the Almighty Father that your thoughts and ways have brought you nowhere and acknowledge that apart from Him, you can do nothing.
If you repent and humble yourself before Almighty God for the sins and mistakes of your prideful rebellious thoughts and ways, He will lead you in the paths of righteousness and life for His Name’s Sake and Glory.
Make Yahshua (God’s Son) your Lord and Savior – He will direct your ways and thoughts in the Light of His Life and Love. AMEN.
Sinners’ lowest points are when they least realize it. When they “think” they are enjoying the “high” life. Safe and snug like a bug in a rug, thinking the world’s ideas assure prosperity –
seeing not that their destruction is about to fall on them for eternal ruin.
Their indulging of self and senses only gives their spiritual enemies the upper hand!
In “eating, drinking, and entertainment” – devoted to their fleshly excesses, they are blinded to the truth of their weakened condition. They are much like the idolatrous “worshippers” of the golden calf in the wilderness.
Seeking and serving the soft, pleasant way – the downward incline – they don’t realize where it is leading them.
These slippery slopes that wind downward end in hell and the grave.
Small wonder, the old saying – “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
No mere coincidence that “Ziklag”– the place of spoil – means “winding downward slopes”.
Ziklag was the original base camp from which the Philistines captured the remainder of their territory.
As David pursued the enemy, not only was the spoil recovered and nothing lost BUT a great deal gained from this victory!
Ziklag, the enemy’s base-camp is handed over to David and part of His Kingdom!
Ecclesiastes 7:8, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.”
Our sorest and greatest trials, our darkest hour is just before the moment of our greatest victory. Shortly after the victory at Ziklag, David was raised to the throne!
As the Lord encouraged David and his men to pursue the enemy for the restoration of their families and possessions, they grew exhausted and were unable to go any further than the Besor Brook.**
At this point, they found a starving cast-off former slave of the enemy.
As they took the time to minister to this soul’s needs, his strength revived and he was enabled to lead them into the enemy’s camp exposing their location and weakness.
***Besor Book – “cold”, its meaning ‘the [good] news’,
Proverbs 25:13, “As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.”
This Brook is fed by the Beersheba which represents the full, complete revelation of Almighty God. This is the large tributary feeding that Brook, Besor!
This is where the Lord sent the messenger that led David and his forces to defeat the enemy!
1 Samuel 30:19, “And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.”
