Joshua 5:13-15, “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou stands is holy. And Joshua did so.”
Previous to this, the believing generation came out of their wilderness wanderings and crossed over Jordan. There at Gilgal, they restored their covenant with Yahweh and in the mark of circumcision He blesses them by rolling away all the reproach of their centuries‘ of bondage in sin. Never ever let the accuser’s lies and darts enter your heart or mind because they are a LIE from HELL! The Word says that you can’t curse what God has blessed and that what they send, comes right back on them in the principle of multiplication. It is a fearful thing to stand against the people that God is blessing. It is willful disobedience and rebellion.
Joshua has been made ready by God for the Israelites to take the land which He has GIVEN to them by a blood covenant and His word of promise. By these two things God is immutable. Immutable means “Not subject or susceptible to change.”
This is the first recorded appearance of God’s glory to Joshua. He manifests Himself as the Eternal, Unchanging Word, the Son of Yahweh.
He comes to Joshua as a man of war. Christ will be all to his people as their faith requires.
If you are facing a battle, it doesn’t matter the enormity of it in the face of the endless supply of God’s grace and glory. He loves to answer His children when they turn to asking Him for help, especially when it is concerning salvation which is a “territorial” issue. Almighty God created mankind out of the “dust” of the earth so it is already
established just Whose it belongs to. His glory He will not share with another and when there is a request for deliverance, He answers. Trusting, persevering faith pleases God as you hold fast the promises He gives you in believing.
This latching onto draws down His immutable Word, His Son.
Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Christ has His sword drawn, an encouragement to pursue the battle with boldness and placing our total trust in His sure and complete victory.
Look at the sword – it is already POSITIONED in Christ’s hand!
This is your sign of His READINESS to DEFEND.
Yahshua is the God that Saves His people
Joshua’s question is for confirmation that it’s God’s will for him to go into battle.
The Word of God, Yahshua or our God that Saves says that this is “HOLY GROUND“;
confirming His will.
Our part like Joshua’s is to go fully seeing God’s victory and walking in obedience to
all His commands. This is the heart of faith that pleases. It is in the doing that He is pleased.
“Thanks be to God! He GIVES us the Victory THROUGH our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I Corinthians 15:57
As we line up in formation under His holy banner, we conquer through His presence and help.
Joshua 6:1-2, “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.”
Jericho determines that the God of Israel shall not be its master. So the City shuts up tight, strongly fortifying itself from this inside out. Thus were their foolish hearts hardened to their impending destruction.
Such is the consequence to all that oppose the Almighty God. God has already determined and promised to Israel the mastery of this place and SOON!
Messiah Yahshua, the God that Saves appears and confirms that this is the will of the Father -a holy work. No warlike preparations were to be made.
The people go in the proper order and formation perfectly aligned to the holy will and command of God Almighty and His presence is right there with them.
The word of promise is given, the “marching orders” are obeyed and the walls fall down and the victory is the Lord’s doing.
This exercise thus proving the faith and patience of the people and God gave the increase of it.
The battle is the Lord’s. He gives the promise by His word and as we step forward in trusting obedience it is accounted our “righteousness” as we take our stand in the Name and the Blood of our Messiah. The victory is through Him and all praise, honor and glory unto Him. The trying of our faith making it shine like gold.
It is in God’s ways and timing as we hold fast to His word of promise in obedience that we go boldly proclaiming “Freedom! Liberty! Victory!” The good news of the Gospel must be proclaimed for it will surely come to pass in due time. It is a testimony to
Yahshua as the Savior. God’s word never returns to Him empty but fulfills all that He purposes it to perform where it is Sent.
God gives to us so we proclaim.
Take those promises to prayer and do battle there against the enemy, the accuser. Pray and continue praising God for the victory for at the appointed time, nothing
can stand in its way.
Word of warning to “Jericho” you’re about to be crushed
by the very things you were trusting in!
In the very hour that the people were to shout, they did and the walls fell down!
This is the shout of faith crying out to God.
“Call upon Me in the Day of trouble; I will DELIVER you, and you will HONOR Me.”
To Him be All praise, honor and glory for ever and ever.
